Because of you i was taken aback
Tucked away in a corner of forgetfulness
Water surrounding my precious jewels
I thought i would drown with you
I gasp for breath and pieces of you only remain in my dreams
Visions of you sustain me
I'm afraid to see you again, though i have heard good things
I have not forgotten you
I have only remembered you
Til we meet again
Thoughts of You

Thoughts of you
Your caressing kisses
Voluptuous breasts and curvy waist
Sometimes, I'm ashamed
Because I didn't notice your beauty when I was with you
I left you never to visit again and now broken you have still come to ask for my help
And I am grateful that you have forgiven me so
But let's not forget how you hurt me
Bruised me so that I could go away
Showing me your ugly side and asking me to love you anyway
So for a while I went away
Only to write thoughts of you
Welcome!!

Streaming thoughts of you enter in my mind
Because of you I am rich , because of you I am kind
I don't sway because the winds blow I only embrace her speech
I remember ancestors being brought into your port at the river
So I sit and meditate on you
........................................................
To all of those who will read my thoughts Welcome To Gumbo!!
It will be my personal thoughts and it will also be things about my home New Orleans... I hope you enjoy :o)
Amber

Amber beads lace my fingers and i have been waiting to touch daffodils and sunflowers, pink carnations and such
Beauty which beholds strong character many take for granted, a vision of her many have slanted
For I have seen the cool water and have tasted its azucar, for its strong and deep
Amber beads lace my fingers with swords I wish to yield for the jewels are pretty made of the finest steel
For these things smells like orange peel, in a field of flutterbys watching the ocean shore, she reminds me of who I am and all that is to be, is she....me?
Amber beads lace my fingers and I begin to bleed
This is what we need
Patch work of health lined across my back I am apart of new pact
White sheets engulf all that is of me
Amber beads laced neatly
Golden flowers on the ridge of my nose
Who is she, no one dare to ask , many are afraid to know

Waiting for that time when I shall see you again my displaced soul sighs
I want to see the setting of the sun from your eyes
Oh that the Crescent never looked so good in the sky
It makes my eyes cry and nose swell because I get so emotional when I talk about you
I want to get drunk in your thighs and eat your goodies and hear your crys of pleasure
I want to understand you better because you are apart of me
Oh that no one would love you more than me
So I savor your touch like Pecan Candy
Because the taste is so damn good
Many are afraid to go in your hood, but not me
Voodoo chile you have adorned me
So I eat my red beans and rice heavily
Because you told me so in bedtime songs
With you in my blood I can't go wrong
So defend you, fight for you, die and live for you

Catch a fire
Blow hot firey embers
I see you there
Do I touch you, yes I dare
You make my cool water sizzle
Yes, I see you behind brown glass eyes, piercing yet drawing me closer to touch
I am not afraid
Drawing closer to what
Those spirits that linked us up
Those spirits that make my Egun come
And though I try to hold them back
They want to speak to you
Catch a fire
Blow hot firey embers
Spliff smoke makes mi easy
Makes my stomach cease the queasy
Helps me see clearly
Though I see alot already
I am not afraid, but enticed by what
I have always known I should have
Picking up those things I put down
I will tread
Destiny awaits, a dread will be a dread
So I catch the fire
And blow hot firey embers
I am destined to follw the path
many have forgotten but still remember

Run water child run
Back to the lakes you know
Momma's there, sisters there , everybody fa sho
Run water child run
Back to the trees you know
You are bound to Earth
And no one knows the mysteries you hold
Run water child run
Back to the mother you know
African pride, afro pics and locs
You rock, you rock style, you rock sweetness
You make hard men smile
Run water child run
Back to the God you know
Church couldn't hold you
Choirs couldn't sing enough praise
Water child look at the hell you have raised
Run water child run
Run until you fly
Pick up your ancestors, those that cannot be left behind
You have good spirits that make you be kind
Run water child run
Back to the Bayous you call home
Back to the place water child is born

Standing on the banks of the Mississippi
I say maferefun to Yemoja for bringing me here
I wonder when I will back here
When will I see the gators of my beloved Bayou
So i sit, catch some crawdads just for fun and I make a wish
Oh displaced soul that I am
When will I see home again
Mardi Gras and Laginappe Times
I swing the second lines, sip on daiqueries with pecan candy in my pocket
Standing on the banks if the Mississippi
I throw beads and pray
Voodoo dolls collect in my path
I learn their trade
Ride street cars to Carrollton, stop and get some ice cream
I offer my blood
Tatooing myself with fluer di lis
I exclaim!
The place I call home is not the same
I stretch my arms out give me my name
Mark my head
Tell me what Ifa has said
Standing on the banks of the Mississippi
I am
